Friday, Sept 4, 2015 – Star Wars Force Friday in full effect
Yesterday’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens Premiere Pack was just the beginning. There were a few more Force Friday surprises in store. But, first let’s go over the other Friday releases.
New Connection this week is the 4th card in Wave 3 marathon chase: Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul.
There was an announcement that there would be a random credit giveaway for people who review the app by Tuesday the 8th. Makes sense since I think app store ratings reset every time a new version is released.
The next classic arts 2 design was released in Green today: Leia as Boushh. The count is less than half the other greens, most likely because of all the other excitement going on today, this and yesterday’s Gold Royal Guard seem to be the ones to hold on to.
Also, I forgot to mention it yesterday but on Wednesday the 2nd there was a free Pink variant Lando Calrissian given out to everyone for 12 hours. What’s interesting about this card is that it gives us a good idea about roughly how many active accounts there are (though I’m sure a good portion of those accounts are held by the same people or a group of people pooling cards).
The next Modernography cards dropped called Jedi Master featuring Yoda. I love how the Gold variants look on these cards but, damn it, there are so many to collect; 19 in the series. I’ll be broke trying to chase this set. I wish they had turned it into 2 sets of 10. Moving on.
Ahsoka Tano was the new Women of Star Wars card released today. This is the 6th in the series so 1 more left to go. Not surprisingly, I believe this card was the first WoSW card that the Green variant didn’t sell out on the first day. Considering how popular Ahsoka is I’m guessing this was an effect of Force Friday and those other new packs that dropped in today.
A new Mos Eisley card, this time not a creature but Ben Kenobi and his lightsaber. It’s actually a nice looking card (and not taken from the base card images) which in my book makes this set highly collectible. Could we be looking at images that will populate future Series 3 base cards? Hmm? It happened with Hoth and other sets.
Before we get to the new Force Friday packs a couple shots sent in last night at midnight by our man on the street GoKarma.
There was a free On the Move! Pack with a Guaranteed Force Awakens teaser insert in the store today, probably for all the new users to get their feet wet trading for the rest of this set. There was also an On The Move! Elite Version available for a limited time that also gave you a guaranteed The Force Awakens teaser insert. I read that these were the same versions that were released earlier in the year. Not sure what made them elite. Maybe the pack was elite i.e the guaranteed insert. Any-hoo. Also, later in the day, codes circulated around the internets that gave you “Exclusive to the Disney Store” versions of these cards for free. I believe they were given out to people who actually visited the Disney Store, but I’m just guessing about that.
We also got the big deal for the day, which is too cool not to share a pic here.
There’s so much pent up demand for anything thing new regarding the Force Awakens that it’s hard to imagine this set not dominating all others, at least until the movie releases.
