Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 – Bib Fortuna Classic Art, Galactic Moments, Pictogram, ESB illustrated, Monochrome Poe, Journey of Qui-Gon Jinn Part 5, Mos Eisley, R2-D2 Smuggler’s Den, Loads of Awards announced

Next Classic Art 2 card design is the Blue variant Bib Fortuna, majordomo for Jabba the Hutt. We’re starting to see a pattern here but it probably won’t last.

Here’s something odd. Instead of a new Widevision today Topps decided to release a new Galactic Moments marathon instead. One reason may be to catch up GM to the other marathons by delaying the other marathon chases. We’ve already seen the first non-chase Bounty variant. Could we see a Vintage variant as well? It also appears that we’ll see another GM insert on its regular day, Monday.

The next Pictogram is Assault on the Death Star. Good news for those chasing the Gold parallel cards for having both Blue and Red variant within 24-hours of the card’s release, your cards are on their way. Not sure what the hold up is. After giving out the first Gold parallel the others have all be sitting in the All Cards views marked as “Coming Soon.” Perhaps they will treat the Gold cards as Awards and move them to the Awards section as well.

The next set of Blue and Green ESB – Illustrated cards (#16-20) have been released to packs and the Smuggler’s Den, respectively. Updating the checklist, I noticed that Red #16-20 have already been given out but not Red #11-15. Weird. That may be a mix up. We’ll see if it gets corrected in the coming days.

Next Monochrome insert Poe was released today. No issues this time with the drop.

Ditto for the next Journey of Qui-Gon Jinn part 5, “The Defiance of the Jedi.”

The next Mos Eisley insert features Kabe. This is what Star Wars Wookieepedia has to say about Kabe:

“Kabe, a female Chadra-Fan, was a regular visitor of the Mos Eisley cantina. She loved juri juice.”

A new Smuggler’s Den variant dropped today, R2-D2 (Astromech Droid). I think they are purposely choosing Gold base cards I don’t have. The final card count was 877.

Finally, we have word on a bunch of different awards. Here’s a quick summary:

• Space Paintings 9/22 – This is the award card for collecting the last 11 inserts. There’s no separate award for collecting all 26. 🙁
• Storyboards 9/22
• Rebels: Defined 9/22 – Ezra Award card
• Street Art 2 9/22 – Yoda Award card
• First Order Helmets 9/22 – Captain Phasma Helmet Award card. Smuggler’s Den Award and hinted relationship with TK have not been revealed yet.
• First Order Widescreen 9/22 – Widescreen 08 Award card
• Women of Star Wars 9/22 – Princess Leia Award card
