Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2015 Recap – Monochrome Snowtrooper, Klaatu Green Classic Art, Journey of Qui-Gon Jinn part 7, Podracer Schematic, Aayla Secura Topps Choice, More ESB Illustrated, Final Pictogram

Next Monochrome is the Snowtrooper. This is the seventh card in the series, clever because they were running out of main characters to use in the set. I guess we’ll be seeing Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma as the next two cards.

IMG_6415-0.pngThe Green variant of Klaatu dropped today and apparently people are tapped out from ESB and the new Resource/Schematics cards. This Green has the lowest card count of the series so far by a fairly wide margin at 1854 versus 2228 for Jabba the Hut. By the way, someone on the StarWarsTrader subreddit today posted these spoiler links to possible upcoming Classic Art designs (spoiler alert). Here and here. And guess what? There’s one for a skiff!

The seventh part of the Journey of Qui-Gon Jinn came out today called, “He is the Chosen One” most likely refering to Anakin. The silhouette reminds me of the little kid dressed up as Darth Vader in that VW commercial.

Another schematic also dropped today, Sebulba’s Podracer. I really hope they don’t decide to make this a daily drop, it might grind the rest of the cards to a halt. Also, it seems that not only do you have to collect the Pink variant Schematic within 24-hours, you also need the resources to build it in that time as well. The Smuggler’s Den offer for Slave 1 from yesterday has already expired and the cards are now marked as sold out.

This week’s Topps’ Choice is Aayla Secura. Wookieepedia has this to say,

Aayla Secura, born Aaylas’ecura, was a female Rutian Twi’lek Jedi Master in the later days of the Republic, who served with distinction as a General during the Clone Wars.”

The next batch of ESB – Illustrated cards (#31-35) Blue, Green, and Red Variants were released into the wild. I noticed yesterday the end of Series 2 stops at the events immediately following the exodus from Hoth. I guess there really will be 100 cards in this set.

Finally, today the last Pictogram dropped showing Jabba’s Palace. Topps ought to have awards for collecting similar characters and scenes or events from across different card sets. Like having this card with the Jabba related Classic Art cards. Or, have an award for collecting all the cards from different sets for a single character (such as Mas Amedda). 😀

There were also a special 1/2 credit pack sale the Darth Vader Master Pack as well as a variety of other Master Packs in honor of James Earl Jones creating a twitter account. Follow him @jamesearljones.
