Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015 Recap – Rock On Dark Side, Classic Art 2 Ackbar, Card Trader Illustrated Luke, Jabba’s Palace Lando, Factions Rey & BB-8, Camie Crimson Variant, A Fan’s Choice, Golden Tickets

Classic Art Series 2 Wave 2: All 3 variants of Admiral Ackbar dropped today. After some confusion about how many cards in this second wave, Topps has clarified that there will be 11 inserts with an award for both completing wave 2 and collecting all 25 cards from both waves. Numbers for Classic Art have dropped precipitously. It’s unclear if this is because people are tired of this set or if they are just busy collecting other sets and people were hoping to be able to collect middle of set cards easily via trade which is a fairly common tactic with fixed number sets. Even though I wished they had not added the parallels to the chase, I still think these cards are unique enough to hold value in the long term and with the low numbers that are turning out now will only make them more valuable to collectors.

Card Trader Illustrated: Luke in his X-Wing Outfit. This is the 9th card out of 10 in the set. Speaking of collectors, this is a true set for elite collectors. In addition to each card being highly prized, the award for these are going to approach the most valuable in the game like Black Night Brothers and Gold Hoth.

Rock On: Dark Side of the Force – Darth Vader.

Jabba’s Palace: Lando (Crab Face).

Resistance vs First Order: Rey & BB-8 is the special variant for tomorrow.

Crimson Variant: The final Crimson variant for the week is Camie. I hope the free variant card continues and the Award card is something good.

Fan’s Choice: The Award cards are coming. Today people who completed Wave 3 were given a choice between Qui-Gon Jinn and Darth Maul. If you’re not keeping track, Qui-Gon has been up for Fan’s Choice 4 times now and has struck out each time. So please, for goodness sake: Vote for Qui-Gon! Those who completed the marathon will make a final choice between all 3 wave winners (Boba Fett and Darth Vader).

Golden Tickets: Golden tickets were offered in Boba Fett packs today at pretty onerous odds. 1:200 for 2000 count and 1:2500 for 1000 count tickets.

Widevision, Vintage, Topp’s Choice, and Bounty marathons end tomorrow. Award cards have been spotted. Congrats to everyone who reached the finish!
